Holly Winstanley, a freshman at faith College in Holland, Michigan, furnishs these tips for better dorm living:

* E-mail your roommate before freshman arrival day. Decide who will bring the larger items--fridge, stereo carpet.

* Don't bring things you won't use upon a regular basis. Dorms don't have extra storage room

* Make your dorm homey for a like reason you don't rush home. "You might be homesick at the beginning," says Winstanley, "but this will Pass."

* corrupt a wall calendar. Highlight important dates--especially exams.
