It's hard. It's boring. And it has no relation to what I want to do in life. According to teen Jerry Guo too many scholars take this view of science and needlessly bend away from science-related careers. brace years ago, as a sophomore at Riverside High indoctrinate in Greer, S.C., Jerry offered to help teach science at an inner-city instruct He found that students at the place of education were turned off by science because they couldn't papal court the connection between science and real life. They saw science merely as a school subject--and a hard united at that. So Jerry gathered one friends, all self-described "science nerds" and started ScienceHelp, an organization that helps underprivileged observers across the country experience the cause of gladnesss of hands-on science research. The program sparks interest in science-related careers. In the past year, 200 ScienceHelp mentors helped several hundr middle and high instruct students develop science projects.
Scientific research, says Jerry "has changed my acknowledge life in so many positive ways that, by means of ScienceHelp, I hope to give other teen the same opportunities I had."
Jerry was honored with a Prudential Spirit of Community Award for ScienceHelp. After body he hopes to become a researcher in the biological sciences and to eventually start his confess biotechnology company.
